Any One Got A Fag?

Did your Grandfather ever tell you about the twenties, George?

Yes glorious times, hunger marches, rickets, polio, strange fellows marching about in flat caps and boots, and! we had managed to kill off quite a lot in the first war, there was still too many poor people. We conservatives and liberals really knew how to run the country, cut Government expenditure on defence. make sure that people have to pay for their own pleasures.

Absolutely correct George. If they want to eat, or have children they cannot expect the Government to pay for that. Perhaps we could bring back workhouse’s.

We have made a good start, unemployment is going up at a delightful rate, we will be back to dear Saint Margaret’s Four million soon, Mervyn King is on  side he is giving all our rich friends in the banks free money which they can lend out at 20% and get fat bonuses. Did you go to any of their parties, vast amounts of champagne and lap-dancers, twenty grand a night they were blowing, not like those cheap skate actors, real money.

Have to get the Doctors on side though George, then we can get rid of this stupid healthcare business.

I am trying my hardest, offering them 80 Billion pounds, you could see them salivating at the very thought of it, how much could they keep for themselves.

You see George every one is greedy, deep down, even liberals.

Will they give us any problems?

No, they haven’t got any options and will take it any way I say!

About michaeldouglasbosc

I am retired and live with my wife on a small olive finca in the middle of a forest in the mountains of Spain in Catalonya. I served 9years in the armed services, am an engineer and because of my love of navy sailing ships a naval historian of the 1700-1800's, plus the author of 10 books. When I retired I started writing adult books my first being A Soldiers Wind. Then came Stanley's story again adult books such was his life. Another book on life in the 1950's this very much an adult book. I have now returned to my love of the sea and my latest navy book 'A Plymouth Story' follows the life of Dr James Blackstock. But Clearing In The Forest is an historical fantasy set in the middle ages at the end of King Johns reign. All the books are published on Kindle and Create a Space in paperback. I have worked all my life and for relaxation I sailed a coastal yacht for many years, but deep inside me was a writer waiting to get out. So when I retired I started writing I find story telling both relaxing and - for me - a pleasure.
