I heard today that F1 is going to be shared between Sky and BBC next year. The word shared is not one I would have used as according to the news the BBC will only have three (yes 3) races. Now for those of us who have Sky there is no problem but for those of who don’t – and there are people who do not, me for one – this is a sell out by the BBC.
There is very little sport for the ordinary man on BBC now. Once we had cricket, football, for all to see, but they gradually let these sports slide one by one and nobody said boo. There are no new programmes on there either, and those that are made are repeated endlessly. So why are we forced to pay for a licence that does not deliver the goods?
Has anyone asked how much the BBC pays Hat Trick Productions or the other private production companies? who probably go home and watch Sky. Are these their drinking chums and upper class (well they think they are) pals. What about the ordinary person who has to pay for all this NON entertainment? Sorry did I use a swear word there Entertainment? not on the BBC.
If someone does not pay their licence fee they are hauled up in court and forced to pay, but what for? certainly not the service they are supposed to get, and definitely not entertainment. It was once reported that the then director general had stated something along the lines of “why on earth should we show football common game” if these words are true then the present director general should have it pointed out that was what the BBC was supposed to do, provide a service for the ORDINARY man about time it was either dumped or made to provide this service.
Perhaps if they sacked the Director General they could afford a few more races.
