Great Britain???

Over the past few days I have, like so many of us, been listening to this government spouting about the criminality of Barclays and the UK banks in general.  Well more like muted stalling really, I have yet to hear the Primeminister stand before Parliament and actually answer a question with, for once, a direct answer.  All I seem to hear is ‘ it’s not our fault it’s the previous governments’ may be it was in part, but you could have changed it.  You can only keep saying that for so long and if you knew about the situation why the hell didn’t you change it? didn’t want to upset your rich supporters? which makes me raise the question of why am I and thousands of others being charged 20% interest on our creditcards yet on my account I get less than 1/10th% interest? Come on Cameron & Co explain that if you and your banking friends can, I am sure the rest of the country would be very very interested, especially those small businesses which are struggling.

This government has been in power for over 2 years and what has it done for the ordinary people of the UK?  Nothing, except cut benefits, cost people jobs and homes, try to make local councils responsible for the things that central government should be looking after. So I have taken a quick look at what this mob have been up to, it’s not pretty, I will not go into details or this blog would go on for ever.

So what have Cameron & Co done for the people?

1)  Employment

The number of people who have lost their jobs since the election has risen dramatically. This is because this government decided to force their policies on us in one go. No gentle easing, no, they were determined to show the world that Britain leads.  The result is scary, cuts to the police, services, town halls, health the list goes on.  They then decided to invent the ‘Big Society’.  In other words handing over everything to the people.  So if that’s what they want to do why the hell do we need them?  Give the Queen the reigns, at least we know we can trust her, she is the best ambassador this country has.

2) People

There were more people who had their homes repossessed than since Black Monday.  So where do these people now live? Who provides their new homes? and more importantly who pays? the taxpayer again…

Why is this happening? well the biggest reason is non-payment of mortgages. Now I realise there is a normal rotation of prepossessions but today the biggest cause is job loss. People are no longer happily plodding along they are now looking over their shoulders watching to see if they can pay the hefty mortgage rates.  It is easy for the rest of us to say well they should not have taken out such a large mortgage in the first place, but lets face facts wouldn’t we all have plumped for a bigger better home if we had the chance?  Human nature is such that yes, we would.

So Cameron & Co who re-houses and feeds the people of Britain who are homeless and on the bread line?  and before you start on your normal reply, yes there are people in this situation is this part of your ‘Big Society’?

3) Health

The health service has fared no better cuts all over but no one has taken a good hard look at this or the way the  ‘managers’ perform.  It is the biggest employer but it does not have a brain.

The hospitals are too big, ruled by ‘managers/executives’ – powerbuilding oikes.  They have lost sight of the three basic rules:  a) clean hospitals and good maintenance b) nurses actually nursing patients not pretending they are junior doctors c) smaller hospitals which ACTUALLY WORK.

There are now several small ‘day hospitals’ opening being run by local surgeries where the Doctors perform minor ops.  We used to call them ‘Cottage Hospitals’ and know what? THEY REALLY WORKED.

4) Police

The police are gradually being phased out.  There is no other word/description for it.  With all these cutbacks there are now 3-4 forces which are so short of officers on the ground that they cannot provide the safety factor anymore.  We need the police to be seen, to know they are there not that somewhere in central London there is a car with 2 officers it, somewhere….   so this is yet another of Cameron & Co’s  Big Society.  Well I don’t know what you think but I think it STINKS.

5) Education

They are messing with the education of young people and now wonder why there is unrest.  If a child is educated properly, they are taught to read, write and do arithmetic, there should not be obstacles in the way if they choose to go to university.  Making it almost beyond their reach by increasing fees and loading these students with huge debts before they even start work is not right.

Good education is the right of every child but this government seems to be angling for ‘class’ education, taking the UK back in time.  Instead of forcing councils to close libraries or local people to take them over they should be encouraging people to use them, this should be down to central government.

Yet another Cameron & Co keeping the ordinary people under the thumb.

6) Banks

Well now we know.  They fiddle while the country dies and their friends in government – oh look Cameron & Co again – do their best to defend them by denying a public enquiry which is the right and proper way to go.   Still what do you expect a government of millionaires to do, chastise their palls and supporters?

There is so much more to be said but things will only change when the people of Britain get off their backsides and vote.  Not bothering because nothing changes is just what Cameron & Co count on.  They have this country by the balls and are squeezing  how long before Britain starts to squeal???

About michaeldouglasbosc

I am retired and live with my wife on a small olive finca in the middle of a forest in the mountains of Spain in Catalonya. I served 9years in the armed services, am an engineer and because of my love of navy sailing ships a naval historian of the 1700-1800's, plus the author of 10 books. When I retired I started writing adult books my first being A Soldiers Wind. Then came Stanley's story again adult books such was his life. Another book on life in the 1950's this very much an adult book. I have now returned to my love of the sea and my latest navy book 'A Plymouth Story' follows the life of Dr James Blackstock. But Clearing In The Forest is an historical fantasy set in the middle ages at the end of King Johns reign. All the books are published on Kindle and Create a Space in paperback. I have worked all my life and for relaxation I sailed a coastal yacht for many years, but deep inside me was a writer waiting to get out. So when I retired I started writing I find story telling both relaxing and - for me - a pleasure.
