Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics!

I observe politics in Britain watching these grasping people do anything to hang on to power, you have the unedifying picture of David Cameron offering the conservative party a referendum on Europe so that he can keep UK IP at bay and in the hope of winning a majority at the next election or even keeping his position as leader of this infamous rabble. Very wealthy people who wish to maintain their wealth by first of all reducing the tax that they pay while at the same time reducing central Government funding to local authorities then telling them to tax people locally by putting up the poll tax, sorry community charge to people who do not have jobs and are unable to find work. In certain parts of Britain work is not so freely available as government statistics would have you believe, the south west is very hard hit no new jobs have been magically brought into existence there. But then, they are far away from London and are just a minority, are they? Why is it that this Government has trumpeted jobs grow month after month yet there is no growth in GDP? Britain slips in and out of recession with monotonous regularity, COULD SOMEBODY BE LYING TO US? shock! horror! a politician that lies, who ever heard of such a thing Mr Clegg, have you looked at the manifesto that you stood on for the last election? You have nothing in common with the conservatives, you are supposed to be a party that cares about the down trodden, but your hand is in the conservatives pocket and you are handcuffed.

Two years to go Mr Clegg, a dead economy and your party dying with it, remember self-preservation? Cameron would sell you down the river if he could get a political advantage, you have still got time to jump before you die, politically that is. Britain needs growth and certainty, the hidden figures show too many people are either out of work living on working tax credits or about to be laid off. The last government was accused of using disability to hide the true state of affairs perhaps this government have found their own way to cheat.

About michaeldouglasbosc

I am retired and live with my wife on a small olive finca in the middle of a forest in the mountains of Spain in Catalonya. I served 9years in the armed services, am an engineer and because of my love of navy sailing ships a naval historian of the 1700-1800's, plus the author of 10 books. When I retired I started writing adult books my first being A Soldiers Wind. Then came Stanley's story again adult books such was his life. Another book on life in the 1950's this very much an adult book. I have now returned to my love of the sea and my latest navy book 'A Plymouth Story' follows the life of Dr James Blackstock. But Clearing In The Forest is an historical fantasy set in the middle ages at the end of King Johns reign. All the books are published on Kindle and Create a Space in paperback. I have worked all my life and for relaxation I sailed a coastal yacht for many years, but deep inside me was a writer waiting to get out. So when I retired I started writing I find story telling both relaxing and - for me - a pleasure.
