A Destructive Policy

In the late 1940’s America had a policy of destabilising any country which gave support to or was supported by France and Britain. These were colonial powers and the US was totally opposed to them especially when they took over the old Spanish empire. They were going to invade Canada in the thirties but the rise of Hitler put a stop to that. They had even got as far as building air fields as launching platforms.

The main targets for the US were Middle Eastern countries, but only those which supplied a large proportion of oil to the worlds markets. Britain pestered the US about a regime change in Iran, the government of Mosaddeq was democratically elected and wished to give the benefits of oil to the Iranian people. However, Britain thought it should go to its oil companies. So the CIA arranged a coup and shock-horror American oil companies moved in how immoral was that.

The next opportunity for the US arose in the middle fifties when Britain France and Israel invaded Egypt. After all you had a Russian puppet in Nasser, all his military and finance for Nuclear developement came from Russia, and all he wanted was the total destruction of the state of Israel. This was a golden opportunity for the US whilst condemning these colonial powers in the strongest terms even though the US had troops inside Vietnam. Again the CIA were operating in Laos and Cambodia so it was most appropriate that Nixon was the man who sent the first Americans in should see the last Americans out. After all the CIA had over thrown many democratically elected regimes in South America then installed Military Junta’s. So Britain and France left Egypt with their tails between their legs, and Israel altered it’s foreign policy  to ingratiate itself with the US political parties. If you can’t beat them join them.

The CIA now had an ‘in’ with the Muslim brotherhood and with their support arranged the assassination of the King and Prime minister of Syria. Once in they changed their support to the Baath party which eventually led to the Assad dynasty being installed. This then rolled over into Iraq getting rid of another pro-British government and where the Baath party elected Saddam Hussein, gosh what a good idea.

Why would America want to destabilise this area? the answer is fairly simple scare certain countries so they run into the arms of the US and then become dependant on US military muscle, plus judiciously applied pressure in certain countries affected the price of oil and the stability of the region.

History has shown us what a terrible policy this was and is. The file on Weapons Of Mass Destruction showed clearly that Saddam Husein was going to blow up the world. Again  the American Intelligence community has been putting out over these past weeks and months, their own version of events in Syria using their mouthpiece Sen. McCain. However, as events in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Iraq, Afghanistan etc., shows you cannot trust these people remember it was the CIA who trained and armed Bin Laden. So many humans have died and continue to die because of these disruptive policies, but nobody looks, nobody listens, nobody is interested in the car bombs exploding daily all over the Middle East. The CIA’s policies are destructive and are only designed to increase the power and financially clout of this agency.

The very people who  are empowered to protect you are the very people who instigate unrest and terror. Perhaps it is time to investigate this agency and bring the people responsible for more crimes against civilised society than any other organisation or person to justice.

About michaeldouglasbosc

I am retired and live with my wife on a small olive finca in the middle of a forest in the mountains of Spain in Catalonya. I served 9years in the armed services, am an engineer and because of my love of navy sailing ships a naval historian of the 1700-1800's, plus the author of 10 books. When I retired I started writing adult books my first being A Soldiers Wind. Then came Stanley's story again adult books such was his life. Another book on life in the 1950's this very much an adult book. I have now returned to my love of the sea and my latest navy book 'A Plymouth Story' follows the life of Dr James Blackstock. But Clearing In The Forest is an historical fantasy set in the middle ages at the end of King Johns reign. All the books are published on Kindle and Create a Space in paperback. I have worked all my life and for relaxation I sailed a coastal yacht for many years, but deep inside me was a writer waiting to get out. So when I retired I started writing I find story telling both relaxing and - for me - a pleasure.
