Who Can You Trust??? NOBODY!!!

Once again the United States allows others countries to take all the pain and economic down turn when the responsibility is firmly theirs!

When the Soviet Union collapsed and Ukraine became an independent country it had the third largest nuclear arsenal in the world after the USA and Russia.  In an inherently unstable area it was felt this was a dangerous situation, so during negotiations it was agreed that the USA and Russia would GUARANTEE the Ukraine’s sovereign integrity. A treaty was signed  stating that the Ukraine would give up its nuclear stockpile to which the USA and Russia stood guarantors.

The nuclear warheads disappeared and Russia invaded!!!!!  So where was the American military? why aren’t tanks rolling  across the steps? why aren’t there American aircraft carriers parked in the Black Sea???

Why is it that when America signs a treaty it reneges on it???

The Ukraine shows that Putin is nothing but a thug and bully! But what it also shows is that nobody can rely on any treaty with the United States of America.

If Russian tanks were rolling across Poland would the USA stand and dither? and would the US Congress stand by its international treaties?

If the Ukraine had kept just a small number of those nuclear warheads I wonder if the Russian Military units would have invaded?

What this situation shouts  out loud and clear is you cannot depend on these countries for your freedom.  Plus their actions do not give other countries confidence in either reducing their nuclear arsenal or even developing their own nuclear weapons.

What it does show is that you need to carry your own big stick!

The United States of America is giving up nothing, is sacrificing nothing. So what value is trust in America?

About michaeldouglasbosc

I am retired and live with my wife on a small olive finca in the middle of a forest in the mountains of Spain in Catalonya. I served 9years in the armed services, am an engineer and because of my love of navy sailing ships a naval historian of the 1700-1800's, plus the author of 10 books. When I retired I started writing adult books my first being A Soldiers Wind. Then came Stanley's story again adult books such was his life. Another book on life in the 1950's this very much an adult book. I have now returned to my love of the sea and my latest navy book 'A Plymouth Story' follows the life of Dr James Blackstock. But Clearing In The Forest is an historical fantasy set in the middle ages at the end of King Johns reign. All the books are published on Kindle and Create a Space in paperback. I have worked all my life and for relaxation I sailed a coastal yacht for many years, but deep inside me was a writer waiting to get out. So when I retired I started writing I find story telling both relaxing and - for me - a pleasure.
